As announced at the dinner Monday, one of our board members, Jim Erfurdt passed away last week.  Jim Erfurdt was a lifetime member of the Denver Broncos Quarterback Club and participated on the DBQC board for many years.  His passing cannot be filled by any other.  He will be missed.  Service arrangements are listed below.

James H. Erfurdt
In Loving Memory

Born
August 20, 1928
Denver, Colorado

Passed Away
August 18, 2013
Denver, Colorado

Jim entered St. Joseph’s Hospital on Thursday, August 15th after a fall in his home. It was discovered that he had advance stages of pneumonia. He experienced extreme difficulty in swallowing, and so hydration and nutrition became an ongoing battle. Pushing fluids or foods through Intravenous Therapy only forced more fluids into his lungs. With waning strength, he passed away peacefully on the morning of August 18th, two days before his 85th Birthday.
Jim was born in Denver, Colorado—a third generation native Denverite—his parents were—Father, Herbert Jack Erfurdt, and Mother, Margaret Horan Erfurdt.

He is survived by his immediate family: wife Dee (Delores) Garrett Erfurdt; Sons, Dan Harrison Erfurdt & Jedd Alan Erfurdt; and a daughter, Jamie Kay Erfurdt. Jim has two grandsons from Dan—Zach (Zachary) Harrison Erfurdt and Ryan William Erfurdt; and two grandsons from Jedd—Collin James Erfurdt and Drake Alan Erfurdt. Jim is survived by other family members, and an amazing circle of friends.

Jim’s first love in life was for his family and friends, with whom he created much laughter and great memories. He also had a passionate love of Baseball– and sports in general– and enjoyed years of Refereeing High School and College-level Football and Basketball games, and continued his love of sports, as a Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. Throughout his life, Jim influenced several generations, and tens of thousands of children, as a beloved educator in the Denver Public Schools (teaching Physical Education and 6th Grade), as well as through the Summer Fun Day Camp and Winter Fun Ski Club, which ran quality recreational programs for the children of the Denver Metro Area. Jim lived for fishing with his sons, grandsons and friends, and loved the out-of-doors. He lived a full life– treating others with courtesy, fairness, and respect– and most people also knew and loved the wry, ironic sense of humor that was so characteristically Jim Erfurdt.
