Bucky was the left-footed punter for the Georgia Bulldogs from 1974 to 1976.. He appeared in three bowl games, including the 1976 Cotton Bowl Classic and the 1977 Sugar Bowl and was a member of the 1976 SEC Championship Team.

Dilts was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Broncos before the 1977 season. His left footed punts put a reverse spin on the ball that opposing returners were not used to. Including in the Super Bowl where early in the game the Dallas punt returner muffed a punt inside Dallas’ five yard line. Had the Broncos recovered the punt (they almost did!) it could have given the Broncos an early lead that may have made a difference in the game.

Dilts was also skilled at directional punting, often pinning opposing offenses inside their own 10 yard line with his “coffin corner” punts.

Come hear Bucky’s stories of that great 1977 Broncos team and of his life after football.
